Cheoy Lee - Over 100 years of uninterrupted ship building.

As a pioneer in the development of fiberglass as a boat building material, Cheoy Lee recognized the savings in weight, greater strength and longevity that this new material offered. Constantly investing in research and improving production techniques, Cheoy Lee honed their fiberglass capabilities to become a forerunner in the marine use of GRP (and foam sandwich) construction.

In 1977, Cheoy Lee built the world's largest molded fiberglass yacht of its time, the 130 foot motorsailer Shango II, and by 1979 the first all foam cored production motor yacht came online; the Cheoy Lee 48’ Sport Yacht. With outstanding hull design from the visionary naval architect Tom Fexas, coupled with the vacuum bagged foam cored laminates, this model was revolutionary, even breaking into the patrol boat sector, technologically superior and markedly outperforming rival yacht and patrol craft at the time.

Additional Information

"Boedicea" was first purchased by the father of the current family of ownership in China.

He shipped her from China to New York where she was offloaded and motored up the Hudson River to Lake Champlain via the New York State Canal System - a beautiful trip if you ever have the desire to take it yourself.

She has been on Lake Champlain ever since and will be launched on June 1 for another summer season.

Owner reports that the engine runs strong.  The sails are in good condition.

She's in need of a new, loving caretaker who can appreciate her craftsmanship and doesn't mind some deep cleaning and a few projects if planning on long distance cruising but, in her current state, she has been enjoyed by her original family who sailing their home Lake - Champlain.

While she is lightly equipped for long distance travels, does have a lot of life left in her.
